First, I have to apologize for being a little lax with my blog. My website and blog actually had some technical difficulties… um… let’s say I was getting the “white screen of death” when I logged into my site. I needed to enlist the professional help of my friend, Carolyn, to remedy the situation. Many thanks to Carolyn for super-sleuthing the problem. I’m buying her lunch TOMORROW in fact.
Now onto my training! This is week 7. There are many things to celebrate. I’m on track with my training (other than sometimes shuffling workout days) and I’m injury free… knock on wood!!
Last week was a “back down” week. Our long run was “only” 7 miles. Can you imagine saying “only” to 7 miles? But when you’re in the middle of adding… adding… adding to your mileage, to take a step back and lower your long run by 3 miles is gift you have to appreciate. These weeks are meant to help your body recover and restore themselves. I take them seriously.
This week it is back up to higher mileage. Our long run is a 12 miler. (I say “our” because my husband is training for the marathon, as well.) My challenge this week is to get my long run in over a weekend when we will be traveling. Our kids are on a long-weekend break from school due the the (U.S.) President’s Day holiday. We decided that we really needed to go away for the weekend, so we booked 1 night in Port Angeles, Washington and 1 night on the Washington coast.
It looks like our long run will happen when we get to Port Angeles. I was concerned about mapping out a run in a city I didn’t really know well. But as luck would have it, our hotel is right near the Olympic Discovery Trail. Now instead of stressing… I’m pretty excited to explore this new trail!
Pictures definitely to come next week!
