My name is Kristine. I’m a graphic designer by day. I sit for LONG periods of time at the computer. I began long distance road cycling many years ago. I realized I really enjoyed the time away.. time to detach and take in what was around me. Then, friends coerced me into signing up for a sprint triathlon — and from then on I was hooked. I was reacquainted with my love of swimming and learned to be a runner again for the first time since my childhood.
Since then I’ve tackled every distance from Sprint to Ironman. This body is built for distance (not for speed). One of my mantras is “Rock What You’ve Got!” Run a 12 minute mile? Rock it. Takes you double the time to complete the swim as everyone else? Rock it. Because if I allowed my fear of being “slow” to stop me – I’d be on the couch. And I wouldn’t have any of these amazing memories that I’m making as I challenge myself with triathlon and cycling.
I’m always striving to get better, but I’m hampered by 20 lbs that just won’t seem to go away. And so, I am an Athena Triathlete! I’ve decided to embrace it. And keep moving forward.
